Couples: Silent Film Stars

This silent film stars couples costume by Lindsay of Shrimp Salad Circus is so clever and perfect. Lindsay put it together for less than $15 and you should be able to find a lot of the pieces for this costume at the thrift store. The little French signs are such a great touch, as are the very white faces.

GROUPS: Monster Family Costume

It’s hard to believe that it’s already September! All of a sudden it starts to feel like fall, and in my house at least, my kids start brainstorming ideas for Halloween costumes. Sometimes I think that planning what you’re going to wear is half of the fun! We’ve never done a coordinated family costume, but I just love the idea. I especially love it when the baby of the family matches everyone else. Plus kids get a kick out of it when their parents dress up too.

Well how adorable is this monster family costume by Tell Love and Chocolate? The whole family includes: Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, an adorable little mummy, and a cute baby bat. You can check out all of the details and tutorials of each of these costumes, plus helpful links to some make-up and face painting videos.

Couples: Quail Man and Patty Mayonnaise Costume

If you grew up watching Nickelodeon in the 90s like me, then you will totally appreciate this amazing couple’s costume! Quail Man and Patty Mayonnaise! Quail Man was the super cool alter ego of Doug, my very favorite TV show as a kid. My brother always loved Rugrats, and I loved Doug. In general, this is a pretty easy costume to make yourself. Most of the pieces are things you may already have or could pick up super cheap at the thrift store (although I’d suggest buying some new white tighties to wear outside of your shorts, lol).

A few tips for making these costumes. To properly make the classic Quail Man belt headband, you will probably need to cut up an old belt. Size the belt perfectly for your head, and cut off the extra piece. Hot glue the belt together into a head band. Then using hot glue, attach the end piece of the belt to the inside of the headband. Also, to add the Q to the shirt, you could just use fabric paint to paint it on to an old tshirt. If you wanted to make something a little more permanent, you could also use iron-on vinyl and a cutting machine. For Quail Man’s cape, you could just tie a red blanket or towel around your neck, or you could pick up a yard of red fleece or fabric at the craft store. Patty’s costume is much simpler, and really just involves putting the right pieces of clothing together, and maybe adding some pink polka dots to a blue shirt.

COUPLES: Starbucks couples costume

Kourtney and her friend crafted up this adorable Starbucks frappuchino and barista couples costume! The DIY barista costume is simple, just ask your local Starbucks for an apron and pick up a black visor! The DIY frappucnio is a little trickier. I’d use poster board to make the cylinder cup and beige felt to make the whip cream! The green straw could be made out of an empty paper towel holder!
